It is said that Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) has initiated a complex development strategy in order to deliver gamers new central processing units (CPUs) in socket AM2 form-factor which are said to enhance the single-threaded games performances, informs X-bit Labs.

Ever since April, several rumors emerged 'saying' that AMD's researchers were already working on a new technology designed to boost performance of games on multi-core processors.

It seems that this new development will not be similar to the one of Intel, meaning that it will increase performance of dual-core chips in single-threaded games, permitting a complex combination of the resources of the two physical cores in order to speed up the overall processing of tasks.

According to X-bit Labs' undisclosed sources, it is possible to increase the number of decoders in order for the "combined: CPU to process 6 instructions per clock cycle. This thing only can become a pretty decent response to Conroe processors and it should be expected that this technology would debut closer to July 24, the day of the Intel Core 2 for desktops launch. But the feature should require synchronization of chips' L1 cache in general along with some other capabilities. Perhaps, the new technology will simply overclock the processor and disable the second core in certain situations."

It is further said that AMD will also develop its 4x4 platform which targets the gaming fans who demand multi-tasking processing and performance. According to the sources, the new CPU will be able to access instantly this combined complex mode, depending on the previously chosen application.

AMD preferred not to comment on the subject. We will come up with new information.
