It's finally here! After weeks of taunting its fans, Sony finally sends its Rollies into the wild. And, oh my God, they actually hope to sell those!

The giant company officially announced the release of the "eggs", yesterday. In case you haven't heard of it before, I should probably tell you the Internet was basically suffocated with a teaser video, from which we found out the Rolly was designed to be more than a music player, as it can actually move on the floor while it plays. The choreography system is revolutionary, indeed.

To remind you about its capabilities, the player can adapt its movements to the beat, or it can allow the listeners to perform editor customization for later sharing with other listeners on the Internet. There is no GPS system, no video player, no FM tuner, no gaming options, no nothing.

Anyway, besides that, the player can also light up with multiple funky colors and swing to accompany the music. Boy, I would like to see that swinging in the overcrowded buses. But, hey, Sony's representatives have thought about everything, so that the player's movement can be turned off entirely for a desk or some other small space, so no action figures in the crowded places.

Another thing that annoys me and a couple of other fans is the 'screenless' design and also the fact that it can store only 1GB of memory. Besides the possibility of syncing the player with the PC using the company's SonicStage software, the device comes with a built-in Bluetooth link, allowing the users to stream media content directly from the PC, laptop or cell-phone with the same audio stereo support. Sony even says the owners can let the Rolly move on its own. I wouldn't do that!

Personally, I find its moves to be quite goofy and Chicken dance-like; still, the critics seem to be pleased with the result, at least for the moment.

However, if you're not into too much gadgetry and just want to look cool, you can fly to Japan and buy one of these, as the device is said to be marketed starting September 29. The price tag is around 350 bucks a pop! However, I need more reasons to buy one!

Here's the official commercial:

So?
