The device is said to hit the market next year

I don't know about you, but some of us knew about a possible iPod touch clone attack, however none of us expected this to happen so soon.

Anyway, it has been recently reported that Chinese media player designer, known as Meizu, is already secretly developing a cute clone of the just released iPod touch. The funniest thing of all is the fact that the one that made this announcement official is none other than the company's president himself, J. Wong, directly on Meizu's official forum.

To follow its "daddy", the player is going to feature a minimalist design line, only the vital controls and probably a simpler user-interface. But, hey, the details might sound pretty minimal to you, but Wong has also promised a built-in 3-inch wide-aspect touchscreen interface, as well as a home control button on the front face of the player.

And this sounds pretty much like Apple's gizmo. As seen in the photos that were posted on the Internet, the player seems to reveal a white casing, however, the images may not be as precise as to reflect the finished design.

As for the player's features and supported format, there is no official word on that. Apparently, the player is going to be dubbed M7, meaning it will be a hybrid derived from the media-only M6 and the iPhone influenced miniOne, known as the M8.

The latter device is expected to hit the Chinese market first, before December 31st. In addition, the M8 will feature a generous 3.3 inches screen, full phone support, not to mention the included 3G Internet access.

Regarding the pricing and availability details of the M7, Meizu's president didn't provide the press with a release data, though it has been rumored the device is unlikely to hit the market before late 2008. I just wonder if the player's price tag is also going to be cloned...
