A few weeks ago, the web was talking about Google's latest move, the acquisition of Postini, a company which is able to bring new security features to the super giant. In case you didn't know, Postini is a firm focused on security efforts especially addressed to corporate users no matter whether the targeted technologies are email solutions or instant messaging clients. Using this firm, Google will improve the security of Apps, a suite of utilities which bundles numerous products developed by the Mountain View company such as Gmail, Google Talk or Google Calendar. Google paid $625 million for Postini which will work as an independent company but will allow the search giant to implement its technologies and add a little bit more security to its products.

"Postini will continue business as usual. Google will continue to support Postini products, and we expect to have even more product announcements in the near future," the Mountain View company mentioned in the details of the deal. "Postini customers will benefit from Google's stability, global reach and innovation. We will also introduce Postini customers to Google Apps, a complete, hosted communication and messaging solution."

What's more interesting is that Google admits that Postini will support the super giant's efforts to improve the virus technologies and the anti-spam filters which are currently supposed to be the most powerful tools included in web-based solutions. "Google already has world-class spam and virus protection as part of the Gmail service. Postini's technology will augment this and will also give organizations a higher degree of control over how messages are filtered both into and out of the company," the deal FAQ adds.

The search giant sustains it has world-class spam filters but my Gmail inbox is continuously assaulted by numerous unsolicited messages which manage to invade my account although I already flagged them as spam. So, where's the truth?
