When the new Nintendo home console, the Wii U, has been announced at the E3 2011 press conference, a highlights reel named well-known developer Irrational Games as being one of the companies who are creating games for the new platform.

Despite this, the creative director of Irrational Games, Ken Levine, has announced that at the moment the team that he leads is not working on any games linked to the Wii U.

Speaking to IGN, Levine has stated he is “not saying it can't happen, but we have no plans to do any games for that platform.”

The developer believes that Nintendo has made a good move by introducing a touch screen on the controller while also keeping dual analog sticks as a control option.

He said, “It's a great year for the core coming back and saying, okay, have your touch screens, have your motion control, we'll try to make that work, and if you can pull that off it'll be really good. But I want to have my cake and eat it too. I think these experiences are starting to allow that to happen.”

Levine has also said that it was a good idea to allow a player to get the experience he would get on a full television on the touch screen included in the controller for the Nintendo Wii U.

At the moment, Ken Levine and his team are working on BioShock Infinite, an action game that is set to be released at some point during next year and has impressed at E3 with its 15 minute gameplay demonstration, which shows how the player character will work and interact with Elizabeth, the mysterious little girl.

The developer also commented on the BioShock game that is being prepared for the PlayStation Vita handheld, which is not being developed by Irrational Games, and said that it will be a whole new experience and will not recycle parts from the first or second game that arrived on home consoles.
