Nintendo has released the launch trailer for the upcoming third-person shooter Ironfall: Invasion, showing what the game has to offer.

Ironfall: Invasion is sort of a lite version of Gears of War, offering a fast-paced multiplayer action that enables gamers to engage in six-player online and local matches.

The game will be available through the Nintendo eShop for everyone to download, after spending three years in development at French studio -VD-Dev.

The game runs at 60 frames per second and offers a pretty unique experience on the 3DS, and the best thing about it is that there will also be a free version available, coming with the first level of the campaign and one multiplayer arena, as well as a limited number of characters and weapons, for gamers to try it out.

The campaign and multiplayer modes can then be purchased either separately or together, adding 11 single-player levels and 78 additional challenges, as well as 6 different multiplayer arenas and a handful of multiplayer modes.

A pretty exciting prospect

Furthermore, Ironfall: Invasion will also come with a solo survivor mode that gives you the chance to train and improve your skills in a series of scenarios against computer-controlled opponents.

The game also supports the C-Stick on the New 3DS and the Circle Pad Pro on the original models, but they aren't required for enjoying the game. Ironfall also supports stylus interaction.

Given how few shooters the Nintendo 3DS handheld gaming device has, it's going to be interesting to see how well this indie game fares.

The game takes place in the near future, when Earth finds itself under attack, and you have to join the resistance and fight back.

Ironfall: Invasion is coming out in Europe this Friday, on February 13, and is scheduled to launch in North America later this month.
