Most of today's PC users have already adopted a portable storage solution, such as a USB flash drive, especially since these drives have become more affordable and can provide customers with an increased storage capacity. However, some users require that their data be stored on devices with a high level of security, which is where products like the IronKey come into place. These drives have been specifically designed for the aforementioned users, providing them with a number of security features. On that note, IronKey, the company that designs these highly secure drives, has announced the launch of the IronKey Enterprise server v2.0.

“As security threats and compliance requirements continue to increase, it is imperative that organizations implement and enforce comprehensive mobile data security policies,” said Dave Tripier, chief marketing officer at IronKey. “The IronKey Enterprise Server provides the management capabilities required to gain control of USB drive usage, and ensure protection of the data stored on them, no matter where they may roam. If a device is lost or stolen, administrators may deny access, disable the device or remotely destroy it. The Enterprise Server provides an unprecedented level of mobile data security by combining the world's most secure USB flash drive with centralized management, tracking and remote administration.”

The new solution has been designed to bring a plus of protection and security to a device that is already packed with a hardware-based encryption solution and other security features. According to the company, the Enterprise Server solution has been put into place to enable consumers to lock the flash drive and destroy whatever private data that might be stored on the drive. In addition, the Enterprise Server v2.0 comes with an active anti-malware service that delivers a plus of security for the drive.

Although no details have been made available on the pricing of the new Enterprise Server, the company has announced that the product is already shipping.
