Iran’s Information and Communications Technology Ministry has revealed that soon enough the country will start relying on antivirus software developed by local specialists, security solutions provided by other companies not being trustworthy.

Trend informs that Mohammad Hossein Sheikhi, an assistant professor from the University of Shiraz, along with his team, other experts from Shihaz CERT, and ones from the Academic Protection and Awareness organization, has started working on the antivirus software since 2010, when the infamous Stuxnet worm hit the country’s networks.

For the first time in the history of Iran, a virus analysis laboratory and a definition database have been created, the funding being covered by the presidency’s special committee for ICT.

Apparently, the tests conducted so far have been successful and if the final result is similar, a commercial version of the product may be released.
