At the beginning of May we learned that Iranian Oil Ministry officials claimed to know the identity of the hackers and the reasons for which they attacked the government systems. If at the time they failed to make public the origin of the attempt, now they point the finger at the United States.

According to Fars, representatives of the police have revealed that a couple of the IP addresses used in the attack have been traced back to the United States.

Furthermore, Iran demands that the US disclose the identity of the individuals behind the IPs so that the country could legally pursue the offenders.

Initial analysis of the cyberattack has lead Iranian officials to believe that the hackers have used a computer virus, their main purpose being to steal and destroy valuable information.
