Even though most people sit in front of a PC when using a keyboard, there are those that want more freedom of movement and distance, hence why wireless keyboards, like the ones being prepared by Iogear, are actually popular.

Wireless peripherals are definitely not a new idea and they have truly started to become widespread, at least among the higher segments of the market.

Mainly, an electronic of this type draws its value from the accuracy of its wireless connection, the distance it can operate at and the battery life.

These properties, of course, are complemented and supplemented by the actual design and versatility (multimedia keys, ergonomic key layout, etcetera).

Iogear definitely addressed these aspects when it created the MultiLink Bluetooth Keyboard, which not only features the above, but a built-in touchpad as well.

It utilizes the Bluetooth 2.0 technology and can actually interface with up to six devices, although one will have to use the built-in buttons to switch between them.

In order to fully take advantage of this feature, one will simply have to stay within 10 meters of any gaming console, HTPC, smartphone or other supported devices.

"Wireless keyboards are appealing because users aren't tethered to a machine while operating," states Bill Nguyen, senior marketing manager for IOGEAR.

"Our new multi-link Bluetooth keyboard offers this same comfort for six separate devices, providing freedom to move around or stay seated while staying connected," he added.

The touchpad included has two mouse buttons, so that one needn't necessarily buy a wireless mouse as well, while a pair of AA batteries deliver the necessary power.

As revealed by Engadget, Iogear will start selling the Multi-Link Bluetooth Keyboard sometime later this quarter (Q1, 2011), for $79.95.

Those that want something cheaper can wait for the 2.4 GHz WiFi version, which will cost $59.99 and shouldn't take long in showing up either.
