Even if fans are thrilled to see the reboot of the Disney classic tale of Sleeping Beauty starring Angelina Jolie in the role of the evil witch Maleficent, behind the scenes, the mood is far somber. There is much talk that the movie is going to be too horrifying for audiences and thus will end up as a glorified flop.

This is driving investors away in droves, as no one wants to put their money up for a project that is doomed to fail. Not even Angelina Jolie, starring in her first major Hollywood role after four years can boost the appeal of the movie claims the Daily Mail.

Gone are the days when Angelina's name on any poster was as good as gold and ensured box office success. Specialists from Wall Street are saying that the movie is likely to just break even, let alone score a profit, and advise potential investors to stay away.

This is one of the reasons why the movie is more geared towards young adults than the original children fanbase. Even Angelina's own children are reportedly scared of their mother in the witch's costume and they should recognize their mother.

She reportedly had to reassure them when they came visiting on set that it was just make-up and the horns and leather helmet were not part of her. This is exactly what the analysts think it will happen on opening day: a bunch of children crying because of a very well-developed villain.

The issue is that the movie doesn't focus on Sleeping Beauty anymore like the original used to do, but it focuses on Maleficent, which means that there's going to be a lot of Angelina's scary looks. So, at the moment, this one could still go either way.

But even so, movie analysts don't mark this down as a sure win “It's definitely in the ‘not a sure thing’ bucket,” says analyst David Bank.

Regardless, Angelina is very proud of her new role and she claimed she jumped at the occasion to play such an unique character, “She isn't the pretty princess. She isn't a beautiful queen. She's a very awkward, pointy, slightly scary-looking horned creature who goes through a lot in her life, as we discover.”

“I hope in the end you see a woman who is capable of being many things, and just because she protects herself and is aggressive, it doesn’t mean she can’t have other [warmer] qualities,” Angelina added.
