Joining leading vendors such as Acer, ASUS, MSI, Dell and others, Indian-company Intex has recently announced the introduction of its first ultraportable, small-sized, low-power computer system, better known as netbook. Named N101-WC1100, the new machine takes on the same technical specifications as most of the other systems in its category, providing users with yet another Intel Atom-based solution, which will be available in two colors.

You will get not surprises with the Intex N101-WC1100 netbook, which has been designed on an Intel Atom platform and has been featured with the vastly popular Atom N270 1.6GHz processor. The system also packs the standard 1GB of RAM memory, a 160GB SATA hard drive, integrated Intel GMA 950 graphics and a LED backlit 10.1-inch display. It weighs in at 1.2kg, battery included, and we hear that it can be upgraded with 2GB of RAM, for those users looking to squeeze a bit more performance out of this low-power PC.

The 10-inch netbook also packs wireless 802.11 b/g networking and Bluetooth and is said to be capable of providing users with about 4 hours of battery life, although real-world figures might differ. As you may imagine, the netbook also brings a 1.3MP webcam, a 7-in-1 card reader and 10/100 Ethernet LAN connectivity. Trying to grab your attention, the Intex netbook will be made available in two color options, including “chic red” and “elegant black.”

The system is relatively cheap and falls well within its category, with the black-painted N101-WC1100 going for around US$390, while the red version will cost you approximately US$10 more. There are no details on whether these netbook will be made available outside of India, but given the stiff competition that has left its mark on the netbook segment, there's a good chance that the Intex N101-WC1100 will not make it to the worldwide market.
