Intex Technologies Ltd., an Indian IT Hardware and Electronics producer, unveiled its latest mobile phone, Intex IN 2020, an affordable handset that can offer a stand-by time of 25 days and a talk-time of more than 7 hours. This feature is very useful for basically any mobile users, since no one wants to charge its handset once in a few days. Even more, the new device is clearly an energy saver when compared to any normal mobile device.

Intex IN 2020 is a dual-band GSM phone (900 / 1800 MHz) that measures 104 x 44 x 18.5 millimeters and weighs only 73 grams. It doesn't have advanced features, but it offers a basic functionality that should be enough for users who want a simple handset. Intex IN 2020 packs a 1.5 inch CSTN color display with a 128 x 128 pixel resolution, polyphonic ring tones (including 3 preloaded Hindi ring tones), Black List (to block up to five unwanted callers), Hindi and English language, voice recording (up to 5 minutes), 8 embedded games, calendar, alarm, calculator, To Do list, stopwatch, Unit converter, Currency converter and Health calculator (BMI and Menstrual). The phone's battery is a 1500 mAh one and, as I wrote above, it has a lifetime of about 25 days in stand-by mode.

"A model with such a powerful battery back-up and other customer friendly features is certainly an asset to any user," said Shailendra Jha, Business Manager, Mobile Phones, Intex. "Considering the MOP, we hope to strike the right chord with both mid & lower-end consumer segments, forming approximately 60-70% of the whole mobile-phone market, in both urban and rural areas across the country."

The new Intex IN 2020 handset is available in two color variants, red-black and orange-black, and retails for less than 2,000 Indian Rupees (about $50). For the moment the phone can be bought only in India, but it will probably be launched in other markets too.
