Indian OEM Intex plans to introduce a new mid-range Android smartphone in India, the Aqua Curve. Contrary to what the name might suggest, this is not a curved device like the LG G Flex or Samsung Galaxy Round.

The folks over at fonearena have recently spotted the Aqua Curve on Intex’s official website, but for the time being, there’s no word on availability or pricing options.

However, we do know that Intex Aqua Curve will be available in Black, Red and Blue color schemes, so customers will have multiple choices at their disposal.

The Aqua Curve is confirmed to arrive with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box. There’s no telling if Intex will offer an upgrade to Android 4.3 or KitKat 4.4 sometime in the future, so don’t rely on that.

Aside from the stock Android 4.2 Jelly Bean included, Intex Aqua Curve also comes with some useful apps and services, including Matrabhasha multi-language support, Intex Cloud, Intex Play, NQ Vault and lots of social apps such as WhatsApp Messenger and Facebook.

On the inside, the Aqua Curve is equipped with a decent 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6582 processor, which is complemented by 1GB of RAM and 4GB of internal memory.

Still, only 1.7GB of storage are free for use, but those who purchase the smartphone will be able to further expand internal memory up to 32GB via microSD memory card.

Obviously, the smartphone offers dual-SIM support with dual standby. It also sports a 5-inch qHD capacitive touchscreen display that supports 540 x 960 pixels resolution.

There’s also an 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back, which features autofocus, LED flash and video recording, while in the front there’s a secondary 2-megapixel camera for video calls.

Other highlights of the Intex Aqua Curve include 3G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, 3.5mm audio jack, FM Radio and 2000 mAh battery.
