Soon enough, we might see a bunch of new UAVs decorating the skies

Flying drones seem to be really popular this year, so it's not a big shock to learn that they are making waves even on the 3D printing industry.

Still, an international design contest for such things is a bit of a surprise, especially since the contestants are all supposed to be students.

Anyway, 3D printing specialist Solid Concepts will team up with the wcUAVc (Wildlife Conservation UAV Challenge) for this.

Students who apply will have to create affordable UAVs capable of seeking out spots of human activity in forests and warn national park rangers about poaching.

The ultimate goal is to save animals, outside of hunting seasons at any rate.

Most of the UAVs will likely be used in African parks, where staff is limited. Ironic really, since African countries are pretty technologically challenged compared to the rest of the world.
