With the help of IronPort

Spam is an issue these days and a lot of firms say they're fighting against it; no one is arguing with that, but they're just not efficient enough. Have you noticed that more and more such firms say they've taken down spam messages, but instead, spam gets nastier every day? I can't remember when's the last time I heard someone say "the percentage of spam has dropped". It seems that software solutions don't help enough.

If you've read the news, then you know that Intel is trying to fight malware with solutions integrated into the hardware that they sell. Initially, I thought that they are only going to tackle viruses and such, but it seems that they also want to fight spam. I can't possibly say at this time how efficient this new method is going to be, but I can't help wondering how easy to configure it's going to be. The worst thing I fear from a spam filter is it dubbing legitimate e-mails as spam.

In their battle against spam, the Intel people will get help from IronPort and the new measures are affecting the Intel Xeon 5300 series. Their policy is something like "when spam increases, we use more power to fight it". Of course I agree that this is a nice idea and to be honest, I can't wait to see this new processor at work, and how it can fight spam.

I hope this hardware solution functions, as spam is really a threat nowadays. Just picture the fact that 90% of all e-mails are spam. That is huge - and out of those, the majority is sent by mailer-zombies. This brings us to the basics - when people will know more about security, we'll probably get rid of all our problems, including spam. But until that day comes, let's hope more people are going to fight spam, so that normal users can be better protected.
