Intel is no stranger to the educational sector, as the chip giant has kick-started its Education Solutions program for a while now. At Bett 2014, UK’s top learning-centered event, the company pulled the veil off its new Intel Education Tablet.

The tablet features a student-friendly design and because younger users tend not to be the most careful tech users, Intel has made the slate rugged and capable of withstanding a standard fall off the desk (approximately 70 cm / 27 inches).

On top of that, water and dust will have nothing against this device, so students will be able to use it for studying activities anywhere (regardless whether they are at the pool).

Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Intel and General Manager of World Ahead Program, John Galvin introduced the new laptop.

"Education leaders everywhere are passionate about driving student achievement and encouraging lifelong learning."

"At Intel, we believe the right technology can be transformative. That's why we are focused on designing tools that bring learning to life, helping to make students more engaged. The result is a future where people have the skills they need for opportunity and growth."

The tablet comes with a 10-inch screen (1280 x 800 pixels) which features bumpers on the sides to make it easier for small hand users (children, adolescents) to hold it, a power button that doesn't give in to accidental pushes and a stylus.

Intel has slipped an Atom Z2320 processor clocked at 1.2GHz which also supports Intel Hyper-Threading Technology. The tablet also includes the Graphics Media Accelerator engine with graphics core capable of displaying smooth 3D visuals. Furthermore, users can get optional 3G support and the battery will reportedly provide up to 12 hours of life.

Most importantly, the tablet allows educators to snap on magnification lenses or plug-in thermal probes to inspire curiosity in students during experiments.

Intel’s Education Solutions for the Classroom includes a range of software, content, services and professional development for teachers deploying interactive learning methods.
