As expected, the new year has brought forth a line of new Intel processors, something that the Santa Clara, California-based chip leader was expected to do for quite some time. While the official press release isn't out yet, there are a number of reviews of the company's latest processors, including both the new desktop, codenamed Clarkdale, and the new mobile chips, codenamed Arrandale. While these new chips are designed for different segments, they share the same architecture, bringing a 32nm CPU and 45nm chipset on the same package.

The chip maker reportedly released no less than 7 new Clarkdale processors, aimed at the desktop market, with 11 new CPU models, codenamed Arrandale, aimed at the mobile PC market. These new chips are accompanied by a couple of new chipsets, in the desktop segment, with the Clarkdale processors being supported by the new Intel H57, H55 and Q57 chipsets. All three have been designed to support the company's LGA1156 socket, introduced with the launch of the P55 chipset and the chip maker's Lynnfield processors.

To sum things up, the world's leading chip maker launched today new desktop processors that will be part of the Core i3 and Core i5 series, while in the mobile segment Chipzilla launched new chips for all three, major series, namely the Core i3, Core i5 and Core i7. These differ in pricing and set of features and are bound to become available in new systems that will be launched through the year.

We expect Intel to be out with the official press release real soon, by which time you should learn more about the company's new lineup, by taking a look at the reviews that have appeared on the Internet, including those on Hot Hardware, Anandtech, Tom's Hardware, PCPerspective. More should be revealed in the upcoming days, with the Consumer Electronics Show just around the corner.
