As you have probably already found out, Intel, the world's leading vendor of computer processors, has recently announced the official introduction of its much-anticipated line of Lynnfield processors, coming alongside the compatible P55 chipset. The chip maker's official announcement has led to a wave of new product releases from some of the world's largest hardware makers, coming to support the new platform. Ranging from motherboard makers to PC vendors, a couple of new products have just been announced to support the much-hyped P55 chipset. On that note, Intel has also updated its product portfolio with the introduction of new motherboard designs, based on the aforementioned chipset.

Aside from designing processors, chipsets and even Flash-based storage solutions, Intel is also building its own motherboard line, boasting the company's latest platform. Such is the case with four new models that have surfaced on the company's site, namely the DP55KG and DP55SB from the Extreme Series and the DP55WG and DP55WB from the Media series. As you have probably figured it out, all four boards have been built to take advantage of Intel's latest P55 chipset, providing users with an alternative to offerings from first-tier motherboard makers.

With the new Extreme Series models, Intel is providing its customers with a choice for two high-end boards designed to support Core i5-700 and Core i7-800 processors, compatible with socket LGA1156. The two boards feature an ATX and an mATX form factor, respectively. They can offer users support for both NVIDIA SLI and ATI CrossFireX technologies, for an ultimate visual experience.

The Media Series boards don't fall too far from the tree, either, providing similar specifications to their higher-end counterparts. The two are also available in an ATX and an mATX form factor and offer multimedia-ready features such as the S/PDIF input and output connectors, in addition to the support enabled for CrossFireX and SLI technologies.

Unfortunately, we have no details on pricing and availability, just yet, but the boards are likely to hit the retail shelves very soon.
