It’s no secret that Intel has been trying to weasel itself into the budget tablet sector and the fruits of that strategy have materialized in the form of the partnership with low-chip maker Rockchip.

But Intel is not eyeing only the Chinese market and it has taken notice of the lofty Indian one, where it is getting a lot of traction with 7- to 9-inch offerings.

Now IndiaTimes reports that the US chip giant is working hand in hand with OEM to deliver tablets equipped with its chips that will be sold starting at Rs 10,000 / $168 / €125.

India is considered one of the fastest growing markets in the world, while mobile devices are concerned and tablets in particular.

Apparently, India’s hunger for tablets swallows up 18% of the total demand from the Asia Pacific and Japan region. More specifically, India, Indonesia, Japan and Australia make up 59% of total tablet demand.

Intel also points out that it expects tablets and 2-in-1s (hybrids) to drive growth in India in the future. Considering Intel is connected with big names in the tech industry, including Acer, ASUS, Dell, ECS, HP and Lenovo, we can expect the super affordable tablets to arrive under their respective banners.

Intel’s new tablets and hybrid devices destined for the Indian market will be equipped with Bay Trail quad-core system on chipset.
