The next generation of CPUs and slates is almost upon us

Bay Trail-T is the name, or rather codename, that Intel's upcoming collection of Pentium and Celeron central processing units is known by.

Last time we heard about it, near the beginning of the month, was when tablet makers had warmed up to it quite a bit, especially compared to the previous generations.

Now, reports say that the CPU line, and Bay Trail-T-based tablets, will be revealed during IDF 2013.

The Intel Developer Forum conference will take place in San Francisco from September 10 to September 12, 2013.

Intel hopes to gain an equal footing against ARM-based Android slates, especially if Microsoft drops Windows 8.1 licensing fees.

I'm still not sold on the idea, but I'm willing to wait and see what happens when the Pentium N3510 and Celeron N2910/N2810/N2805 finally show up.

Related products will arrive in November or December, but mass production of the chips, at least, will commence sooner.
