In a conference call held with analysts, Intel Chief Executive Brian Krzanich made a few interesting points. First of all, he admits that he expects the kickstart of the holiday season to see a wide range of discounts appear on the market, VentureBeat reports.

Shoppers looking to buy tech gifts will mostly be drawn to touchscreen devices incorporating Haswell processors, sporting twice the graphic capabilities and battery life of the previous models.

Krzanich also made some pricing estimates. He sees tablets priced around $99 / €73, Haswell touch-based laptops around $299 / €221 and 2-1 hybrids around $349 / €258.

As for the devices incorporating Bay Trail chips, he says 10 models will become available, revolving around the $299 / €221 margin.

Intel also announced that it surpassed expectations in the profit department, growing with 5% in Q3 of the year, success attributed mainly to the Haswell-powered laptops and portables.
