Intel wants at all costs to expand its field of activity. After announcing the VIIV technology which will be the cornerstone of the entertainment oriented PCs, Intel has started to look for other allies.

During IFA 2005 which took place at Berlin, Intel announced a partnership with Philips, which targets the Philips Showline Media Center products. These PCs are specifically designed to allow consumers to store and share videoclips, music and movies, Reuters announces.

Philips has fitted these PCs with TV Tuners that allow the receiving and viewing of two TV channels simultaneously, a 250GB hard drive and a DVD-RW optical drive.

The Philips Showline Media Center MCP9350i, to be introduced in October, provides a complete platform for the maximum enjoyment of digital multimedia home entertainment, offering the very best of convergent digital technology, including high definition, high quality video and audio playback, the convenience of wireless connectivity and the power of the latest platform technologies from Intel.
