Then again, Haswell is why Ivy Bridge inventories won't clear so fast

Now that a new range of Intel Core-series CPUs is out, the previous generation has to go bye bye. Alas, it seems THAT Ivy Bridge won't disappear any time soon. Inventories are too large.

Or maybe people are too busy buying fourth-generation Core i3/i5/i7 chips to actually consider Ivy Bridge ones. After all, to digest inventories of those CPUs, customers actually have to buy them.

So, either because of too large inventories or sudden shift away from Ivy Bridge, or both, the chip inventories won't be cleared until 2014.

On the other hand, CPU Q4 sales went down 20-30% compared to 2012, and channel retailers are experiencing weak revenues for September. That means that chip sales have been weak in general, not just for Ivy Bridge.

In the end, it all comes back to phones and tablets. They've been selling cheaper lately, and going on promotions, stealing potential customers away from the PC industry. So Haswell needs to wait until 2014 to actually shine.
