Intel’s NUC mini PC has been able to create an important niche market for itself, which appears to be growing each year, therefore we can except the offer to differentiate more and more, in an attempt to respond more effectively to the most diverse needs.

FanlessTech reports Intel will be launching a new NUC version which will be quite economical and quiet, as it won’t come bundling an internal fan. The mini PC will be powerd by a new Intel Atom processor E3815.

After launching a bigger NUC model which could accommodate a 2.5-inch hard drive, Intel had to align itself with what has been recently done by competitors like Gigabyte, which recently showed off a version of their ultra-compact BRIX with a fanless Intel Atom.

Howerver, unlike the BRIX, the new NUC seems to be specifically designed for digital kiosk and industrial applications, so we won’t probably see it reach the consumer market.

The Atom E3814 is part of the new family E38xx, having a single core with a clock rate of 1.46GHz, 512 KB L2 cache, integrated graphics subsystem working at 400MHz and support DDR3L 1066 MHz and TDP of only 5W.

Other specs include 4GB of internal memory (eMMC), support for 2.5-inch drives and the presence of USB ports, HDMI, VGA, DisplayPort and Ethernet. Except the new NUC to arrive into retail soon.
