Between the 13th and 15th of September, Intel will hold its annual Fall Intel Developer Forum (IDF), and this year's event will focus on Ultrabook laptops as well as on the company's upcoming Ivy Bridge and Haswell processor architectures.

Ivy Bridge was initially expected to release in the first quarter of 2012, but after considering the yield rates of its 22nm Tri-gate fabrication process and its worldwide market status has decided to postpone the launch to March of 2012.

Apart from giving the company more time to increase their Ivy Bridge processor stocks, Intel is also expecting this move to smooth out the transition between Sandy Bridge and its next-generation 22nm processors.

In addition to the Ivy Bridge architecture, sources close to the Santa Clara chip giant, have also revealed that Intel plans to release detailed specifications regarding the 2013 Haswell processors.

Information about this architecture is pretty scarce at this point in time and the only features that have been confirmed are its support for AVX 2.0 and the configurable TDP technology that will be used for mobile processors.

A recent report also points out that Haswell will include support for DirectX 11.1, but Intel hasn't announced such a feature yet.

As far as Ultrabooks are concerned, Intel will showcase several completed models from first-tier notebook players, including Asus (the UX-series), Hewlett-Packard (HP) and Lenovo.

In addition, the company will also offer additional details about its Ultrabook design concept as well as about its three stages execution plan.

On the tablet front, Intel plans to talk about its cooperation with Google on porting the Android 3.0 operating system to the Oak Trail series of Atom processors and will also present the progress achieved with the development of MeeGo and AppUP Center. (via DigiTimes)
