Several undisclosed sources, some motherboard makers, revealed that Intel is panning to retail a replacement for the old 965 series of chipsets which will support 1333MHz front-side bus (FSB) and both High-Defitition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) and High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP) ? the Bearlake-G+, informs DigiTimes.

The Bearlake processors will be available on the shelves starting the next year?s second quarter, when Intel will roll out the first chipsets ? the Bearlake-P and the Bearlake-G which are said to feature an integrated graphics processor (IGP).

Next in line will be the Bearlake-X, an upgrade to the previously released 975X Express chipset which will sport, according to the sources, a 1333MHz FSB and DDR3-1333. But the upper mentioned processor family will not be the only one to be launched in the Q3 of 2007, as Intel also intends to hit the market with its Bearlake-X and Bearlake-G+, which will support PCI Express (PCIe) 2.0 interface and DDR3 memory technology.

Furthermore, DigiTimes reports that the Bearlake-G+ series will be the maker?s first chipset to be compliant with Microsoft DirectX 10 technology and will feature a DDR2-800 or even DDR3-1066 memory, and will also sport capabilities adopted by the famous standards ? Blu-ray and HD DVD such as VC-1 video and H.264 codecs.

?As reported on June 26, industry sources expected that Intel will likely leave the high-end chipset market, to involve Nvidia and ATI, with their dual-graphics technologies, in more active developments of high-end chipsets for the Intel platform. As a result, the two companies could become less focused on the AMD platform?, said the sources cited by DigiTimes.
