Intego, a well-known Mac security firm, has announced that Frost & Sullivan has recognized the security software vendor as the Global Mac Endpoint Security Entrepreneurial Company of the Year for 2010.

In a report that hit the wires minutes ago, Intego is “proud to have been recognized by Frost & Sullivan as the Global Mac Endpoint Security Entrepreneurial Company of the Year for 2010,” the company states.

Frost & Sullivan is a global growth consulting company that partners with clients to support the development of innovative growth strategies.

According to the Austin, Texas-based security software vendor, analysts at Frost & Sullivan used their best research practices to examine the companies currently activating in the Mac security market, and, “based on the findings of their best practices research, chose Intego as the best company in the Mac security sector,” Intego confirms.

“Based on clear, forward-thinking leadership in the Mac endpoint security market, Frost & Sullivan presents the 2010 Global Entrepreneurial Company of the Year Award to Intego,” Frost & Sullivan said.

“We’re very proud to have received this important recognition,” said Laurent Marteau, CEO Intego.

“We protect Mac users from the many security threats they face with our powerful X6 product line, which is acknowledged as the best security software for Mac. Receiving this award from an independent third party is confirmation that our hard work has borne fruit,” Marteau added.

The CEO concluded saying, “This award confirms our position as the leader in Mac security, and validates the excellent strategic choices that have been made throughout Intego’s life.”

In related news, Intego recently updated its free Mac app, VirusBarrier Express, to version 1.0.2 adding new language support (Spanish, German, Italian, Japanese, Dutch, Portuguese, Russian, Chinese), as well as minor bug fixes.

VirusBarrier Express is an antivirus and anti-malware tool based on Intego's VirusBarrier X6.

The Express app not only protects Mac users from viruses, Trojan horses and other types of malware, but also also detects Windows malware, so that Mac users don't pass on infected files to people using Windows PCs.
