Xbox 360 owners shouldn't install Skyrim on their console just yet

Bethesda has acknowledged an issue with the Xbox 360 version of its The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim title, warning customers not to install the game on the hard drive of the console, as an issue with the streaming systems used by the RPG causes textures to be loaded with a lower than normal resolution.

Skyrim was deployed at the end of last week, on the mythical November 11, 2011 date, but it seems that the launch wasn't that fortunate, as quite a lot of bugs, issues or exploits were found by gamers across all platforms.

While some that we presented from the PC version were pretty funny, Xbox 360 owners of Skyrim are met with a more serious issue, as when they install the game on the console's hard drive, a bug prevents the title from actually loading the right textures, resulting in an array of low resolution ones being displayed.

Bethesda has already acknowledged this issue and confirmed that a patch is going to be released soon that will solve Skyrim's low resolution texture problem.

In the meantime, however, a representative has posted on its forums explaining the issue and advising Xbox 360 Skyrim owners to not install the game on the console, at least for now.

"Skyrim uses a lot of dynamic streaming systems, including textures. We've seen a few reports of certain textures temporarily scaling down on the Xbox 360, and not scaling back up," he revealed. "We have verified that this issue does not occur when playing off the disk and when the game is fully cached (not installed)."

"We're working on a solution in the next title update for those who have installed the game," added the Bethesda representative, but declined to say just when this patch might actually be released through the Xbox 360's Live online service.

The PC or PlayStation 3 editions of Skyrim, which both have mandatory installations, aren't affected by this texture issue.
