Parallels Desktop 6.0 for Mac has received a minor incremental update that delivers a truckload of tweaks and fixes, as well as the ability to host Ubuntu 10.10, the latest version of the highly-acclaimed Linux distribution, in a virtual environment.

As usual, the changelog for Parallels Desktop 6.0.11826 is divided into general fixes, performance tweaks and enhancements, changes to better support various Windows video games, graphics improvements, and support for input and network devices.

The new version of Parallels Desktop fixes an accidental crash that could occur when resuming a suspended virtual machine while running another virtual machine, the program’s makers say.

It fixes an issue that caused the virtual machine to hang when working in Live Meeting, as well as a problem with virtual machines failing to start after upgrading from certain versions of Parallels Desktop 4.

Finally, as the list of “General” changes reveals, the new Parallels adds support for Ubuntu 10.10 virtual machines.

Performance improvements include addressing a problem with SMP Windows 7 virtual machines with large amounts of memory.

For “Games and Graphics”, Parallels Inc. mentions the following improvements:

- Improves the performance of Batman: Arkham Asylum, Europa Universalis III, Civilization V, and other games. - Addresses problems that could occur when playing Left 4 Dead 2. - Fixes graphical artifacts in Heroes of Might and Magic V and Jack Keane. - Fixes an accidental crash of Battlefield Bad Company 2. - Fixes an accidental crash of Windows Live Movie Maker. - Fixes an accidental crash and video artifacts in Internet Explorer 9 Beta and enables hardware graphics acceleration. - Resolves a problem with ArcGIS Explorer in 64-bit Windows 7 virtual machines. - Fixes an issue with OpenGL in DAZ Studio 3 Advanced.

Changes occurring with Sound, Keyboard, and Network Devices include fixed audio latency issues that could occur in certain cases, resolving a problem with sending the Command+Tab key combination both to Mac OS and the virtual machine, and more.

As far as Integration is concerned, Parallels Desktop 6.0.11826 fixes an accidental crash of the virtual machine on Mac OS X 10.5.8 after upgrading Parallels Tools, adds support for Xorg 1.9 to Parallels Tools for Linux, and adds support for Parallels Tools installation in Ubuntu 10.10, these being just a few of the noteworthy changes.
