Since Internet and multimedia tablets are such a hot commodity these days, it shouldn't come as much of a surprise that the companies manufacturing such products attempt to target every possible market segment and niche, including here children, who'll soon be getting their own dedicated tablet, the InnoPad, courtesy of VTech.

A long-time manufacturer of toys and other accessories for kids, VTech has equipped the tablet with everything it might need in order to allow kids to play and learn, including here a 5-inch color touch screen LCD, a tilt-sensor for game control, microphone, as well as interfaces for USB, SD card and a headphone jack.

The tablet lets children learn how to use a touch screen and tilt-sensor for playing games and lets them develop the skills of using touch applications including tap, flick, pat and drag-and-drop, which they're sure to actively use later on in their lives.

Furthermore, the device sports an integrated MP3 player and Video Player, as well as numerous other integrated applications such as a Calculator, Calendar, Notepad, Clock with personalized voice alarm and Friends Address Book.

“Anyone who has used a tablet device knows its greatest value is its versatility, especially the wide range of applications that provide a unique experience for the user," said Tom McClure, director of Marketing for VTech Electronics North America.

"Most parents would be hesitant to give their own gadgets to young children, however, VTech has taken that cutting-edge tablet technology and applied it to the InnoPad, which encourages early learning in a fun product that is just right for kids," Mr. McClure concluded.

The InnoPad tablet from VTech has an estimate sales price of around $79.99, and parents can also purchase additional educational software titles (available in dedicated cartridges) for around $24.99, which offers the device quite a good value, all things considered.
