The practice of killing sharks and using their fins to make soups and other culinary delights is something I've had the chance to write about several times before.

Note: by “write about,” I mean “criticize.”

Anyway, here is one infographic that will really put things into perspective. Just click on the link and brace yourselves for some serious scrolling.

This is because, contrary to what the media more often than not says about them, sharks are not vicious, bloodthirsty killers.

Quite the contrary: about a dozen people are killed by sharks throughout the course of an entire year. On the other hand, people kill thousands of sharks each hour.

The infographic has been pieced together by several green-oriented organizations and agencies whose members hope finning will soon be put an end to.
