Panda Security, the creator of multiple security solutions, including Panda Antivirus, has launched an interesting campaign, named Infected or Not, supposed to give users the chance to check their computers for infections. According to the security company, the campaign is the result of a study which proved that no less than 23 percent of home users are infected even if they were using up-to-date security solutions.

But what's more interesting is that the campaign has attractive prizes which may gather quite an impressive audience: the first ten companies that can prove they are 100 percent clean will receive $7,500 while the first ten users to demonstrate the same thing will win iPod Nanos.

"Many users and IT managers believe that all security solutions are the same and that simply having a traditional anti-virus solution installed provides sufficient protection, yet the truth is quite different," said Mathieu Brignone, chief marketing officer, Panda Security. He added, "Due to the evolution of malware, traditional anti-virus solutions can no longer protect against malware whose sole purpose is financial gain. Users are given a false sense of security with current solutions, yet their networks are still significantly exposed to the threat of confidential data being stolen and identity theft".

In order to test your computer for threats, you have to visit the Infected or Not official website, install the provided application and starting the scanning process. Please note that the Panda software can be downloaded only when using Internet Explorer or Firefox 2, so in case you've installed the latest beta of Mozilla's browser, you can't get it. You may choose between a quick scan, which usually takes approximately 5 minutes, and a full scan with a duration of about 1 hour or less.
