Infamous: Second Son, the upcoming open world PS4 game from Sucker Punch Productions, takes full advantage of the console's innovative DualShock 4 controller, using its touch pad or light bar in various ways.

Infamous: Second Son is one of the big PS4 exclusives of the year, as many owners of Sony's new console are looking forward to seeing just what Sucker Punch will bring to the powerful platform.

After offering quite a few details about the game's performance or features, the studio has now talked a bit about the ways it uses the DualShock 4 controller, from the touch pad, to the light bar and much more.

According to Sucker Punch's Brian Fleming, some of the ways the title uses the new controller are going to surprise players.

"We’re huge fans of DualShock 4. The touch pad, the light bar — we take advantage of all those things in various ways. Some of them are surprising, some of them simple. You drain power by touching the touch pad, for example," he told PS blog.

By far the most important DualShock 4 functionality is just how the game controls, as the smaller dead zones for the controller's sticks or the better triggers translate into an improved experience.

"But the biggest things that we’re excited about regarding DualShock 4 are the improvements made in the tension on the sticks, and the shape of the sticks themselves, all of which make for better control. Not just for Infamous, but every PlayStation game is going to benefit from the smaller dead zones, the improved triggers — all of that closed the distance between the player and the game."

Last but not least, Fleming also mentioned that the new game would feature a great destruction system that should impress most players as they're tearing down structures built by the DUP all around Seattle.

"The most important stuff that you’ll be destroying is the infrastructure that the DUP is putting into the city. You’ve seen some of this in the demos we’ve done. This stuff was designed to break in the most spectacular way we could manage. It’s all simulated, multi-stage breakables — so if you blow up one corner of something, the whole thing topples over and smashes to the ground. That’s been a lot of fun to work on," he added.

Infamous: Second Son is set to debut later this month, on March 21, worldwide exclusively for the PlayStation 4 platform.
