Infamous: Second Son developer Sucker Punch Productions has revealed a few more details about the powers wielded by the protagonist of the new game, Delsin Rowe, and how their design process went during the development of the title.

Infamous: Second Son is set to deliver an open world experience to PS4 owners worldwide later this week, and developer Sucker Punch has already shared plenty of different details about the mechanics of the game, its city of Seattle, but also about protagonist Delsin Rowe.

Now, Senior Game Designer Darren Bridges has hosted a special Q&A session on the game's Facebook page, answering questions from fans about the new title and, more specifically, about the different powers wielded by Delsin Rowe inside the game.

First up, Bridges has revealed that the game had been in development for two and a half years and that the powers have been worked on ever since.

"We started working on them from the very beginning of development two and a half years ago, and continued all the way to the end," he said.

Unlike Infamous 1 and 2 protagonist Cole MacGrath, who controlled mainly electricity, Delsin Rowe can use other abilities like smoke and neon, not to mention other surprise power sets.

One key area in the creation of these new powers was to make them feel awesome but not overpowered, according to Bridges.

"That’s always the balance we’re striving for- it’s easy to make powers that are overpowered, but it’s difficult to make powers that feel awesome but also facilitate a good challenge. It was a long process of creation, testing, and revision. We wanted each power set to feel unique, and we wanted to give a sense of progression as well as you play through the game."

Bridges has also praised Sucker Punch's artists and developers, as he and his colleagues would come up with crazy abilities that seemed impossible to achieve but were eventually rendered inside the game.

"One of my favorite parts of the development was getting to work with the awesome FX artists at Sucker Punch. I’d come in with an idea for a power, they’d say 'hmm, that’s impossible.' Then like an hour later I’d come back and they’d say 'ok I did it'."

Last but not least, Bridges has confirmed that karma choices won't limit access to a specific power set. Instead, the decisions will only affect what actual abilities are unlocked within a power set.

Infamous: Second Son launches worldwide for PS4 on March 21.
