Infamous: Second Son has just received a few more details about its special ARG called Paper Trail, which includes in-game missions and online quests for players who want to explore more of the game's universe.

Infamous: Second Son was finally released all around the world last week, exclusively for the PlayStation 4, allowing owners of Sony's new console access to an open world superhero game.

While developer Sucker Punch Productions emphasized several times that there are many different main missions, side quests, and activities inside the game, it also added with the day-one update for the game a special series of new missions called Paper Trail.

Now, thanks to a FAQ on the official website, the story extension has received some more details.

Paper Trail brings a fresh series of missions for Second Son that will see new chapters get unlocked every week for the next six weeks.

During these missions, players will have to unravel the mysteries behind the Department of Unified Protection (DUP), its director, Brooke Augustine, and the cover-up of a troubling suicide.

The actual gameplay revolves around completing missions inside the game, which get revealed about one third of the way through the story, and then using the information gained on the official website.

There, you'll need a Paper Trail account and, if you want to transfer your earned karma to Second Son, you'll have to link up your PlayStation Network account. A PSN account isn't mandatory, however, if you want to participate in the online missions.

You can also experience the ARG on smartphones, although Sony recommends using a PC or tablet for the best experience.

The company also described just how the process of transferring information between the game and the website goes, so check out its description below.

"To complete a Paper Trail mission in game, you will be directed to a location where you can mail these items to your Paper Trail profile. Once you receive confirmation in game that the items have been transferred, you can log onto your Paper Trail profile to access the items and continue the missions."

You can expect all sorts of bonus activities to appear on the official website and new missions to be unlocked inside the game in the following six weeks.

If this experiment proves successful, you might see it used in other future games from Sony's internal studios as a way of augmenting the relationship between players and the actual interactive experiences.
