Infamous 2, the superhero action adventure game from Sucker Punch, has just received a brand new trailer, showcasing some of the superhuman powers wielded by the protagonist, Cole McGrath, in the new game, ahead of this week's start of the user-generated content beta stage.

Infamous 2 is going to be on the must-have lists of many PlayStation 3 owners, as Sucker Punch's new iteration in its own franchise brings quite a lot of brand new things.

Besides the standard electrical powers that were used by Cole in the first game, this time around, the protagonist gets a hold of some new abilities, which, as you can see in the video below, allows him to manipulate both fire and ice.

Cole shows off these powers through the use of some devastating attacks, which use ice to freeze enemies and provide some great environmental hazards, as well as fire, which enables Cole to do some impressive area of effect damage.

Sucker Punch wants to raise awareness for the game, which will see the launch of its user-generated content beta stage this week.

As was announced a few weeks ago, Infamous 2 will have a very special mission creator that will enable players to make their own content and missions that will appear in the actual game.

According to Sucker Punch, this new feature will enable Infamous 2 to have a practically unlimited number of missions, which can be viewed, experienced and voted by gamers, much like previous PlayStation 3 exclusive games like LittleBigPlanet 1 and 2 or ModNation Racers.

The first wave of invitations for the user-generated content beta stage will be rolled out tomorrow, on April 12, and again on April 19, to a number of PlayStation Plus users.

"Emails, containing voucher codes to download the beta from the Store will be sent to selected PS Plus users on 12th April and again on 19th. Users have been selected based on a few criteria including what inFamous trophies they achieved in the original game," explained Sony. "Please remember that not all of you will be able to access the beta at this time, though we will try and open it up as wide as possible - as soon as possible."

The best missions that will be created from this beta stage will be shipped with the retail version of Infamous 2, so that all players will be able to enjoy them, even if they won't have their PS3 connected to the Internet.
