The hacktivists want Australia to stop spying on Indonesia

Over the past couple of days, Indonesian hacktivists have defaced at least 300 Australian websites. The hackers are protesting against Australia’s and the United States’ joint espionage operations on Indonesia.

Anonymous Indonesia has been publishing links to Pastebin pastes containing lists of targeted websites. I’ve seen around 300 websites that have been defaced, but there could be much more. Most of them are commercial websites.

The attacks are part of Operation Australia, a new campaign launched by Indonesian hacktivists.

“Greetings to all Australian citizens. Tell to your government to stop spying on our country! We are Indonesian people,” reads a message posted on some of the defaced websites.

Hackers involved in the campaign have told Cyber War News that they will “destroy Australian Internet” if the spying on Indonesia doesn’t stop. They also want Australia to apologize to Indonesia.
