In ways unknown to us, hard-working people, a whole line of phones costing over $130.000 each has sold out a few days after the unveiling. This makes one wonder if things are really as bad as they seem. It wouldn't come as such a surprise if not for the so terrifying and inevitable financial crisis that everyone can't stop talking about.

The "defendant" is a mobile phone encrusted with 537 diamonds that was on sale in Japan. The price for one of these "babies" was 83.000 pounds or 130.000 dollars. The 823SH Tiffany mobile designed by Tiffany & Co. is equipped with the latest technology by Sharp and its centerpiece is a platinum panel encrusted with 18.34 carats’ worth of diamonds.

Naturally, the Japanese stated that they were very much pleased with the outcome considering the newly occurred crisis and even though the launch had been planned, according to a Softbank spokesman (the Japanese company that produced these "jewelries" along with Tiffany & Co. and Sharp), before the crisis came into play, they wouldn't have risked blindly had they not been sure of their success in terms of sales.

Maybe the buyers of these really appreciated phones are not living on Earth, or maybe they cannot leave our planet without such a phone. Otherwise, there’s no reasonable explanation as to how these people can afford such a luxury when the crisis that is sure to affect the entire globe is around the corner.

Even so, this should not amaze anyone, for it is not an isolated incident; on the contrary, it's starting to become fashionable if we consider that Prada and NTT DoCoMo released, earlier this year, another luxury mobile line.
