AdMob has announced its plans to address one of the biggest challenges facing iPhone application developers today – increasing consumer awareness and downloads. To do this, AdMob has introduced the AdMob iPhone Download Exchange, a service that gives devs a unique way to get the most out of their apps, by effectively monetizing and engage with consumers.

According to the announcement, AdMob will allocate Download Exchange ad inventory among the exchange members based on the quantity and quality of the inventory each member contributes. As you can imagine, the “installiness” of an application will also play a crucial role in the process o optimizing the exchange, to deliver the best possible results for all members.

AdMob iPhone Download Exchange can drive application downloads for developers in a whole new way, according to the company, while maximizing effectiveness of exchange ads by ensuring they only run on devices that do not already have the same application installed. Another “weapon” used by iPhone Download Exchange is its ability to target the correct Operating System (OS) version, geography, and device (iPhone vs. iPod touch), says AdMob. Other features include:

- Simplify the ad creation process by automatically developing the ad creative - Provide reporting on the ad impressions allocated by developers to the exchange and the number of downloads generated - Give developers detailed control over the ratio of exchange ads to paid ads running in their application.

“iPhone developers are clamoring for new ways to increase consumer discoverability of their applications,” said Omar Hamoui, Founder & CEO, AdMob. “Everyone we talk to tells us the same thing, making this a great opportunity for us to extend another valuable service to developers. So starting today, application developers in AdMob’s network can allocate a portion of their ad inventory to our new iPhone Download Exchange and begin helping each other drive downloads.”
