The development team at InXile might not be ready to offer a clear launch date for its upcoming Wasteland 2 but the company is offering all its fans a chance to learn a little more about the Los Angeles area of the game, which has so far been kept under wraps.

The studio says that it has chosen to try and deliver a different experience than the one players have in the already revealed Arizona environments, which has a strong similarity to those offered by the original game in the series.

In an official Kickstarter post the team explains that, “Los Angeles allows us to get back to some of the wildness the Wasteland setting allows, by opening up a fresh new area with weird possibilities. Los Angeles as it stands now is a sprawling city-scape, one of the most populous metropolitan areas in the world, with recognizable landmarks such as Hollywood and the L.A. Coliseum.”

The apocalyptic events that create the game world give the entire city a very different look, mainly because no central authority exists to make sure that the urban sprawl get the resources it needs to exist and the elements have affected its most important landscapes.

InXile adds, “With most of the human presence wiped out by the war, the creation of small and mostly toxic lakes of water by the post-war storms, and the shifting of air and water currents, the Los Angeles of Wasteland 2 is a lush area. Nature has reclaimed much of the ruined cityscape.”

In Los Angeles gamers will have to use a new set of tactics during the tactical battles, although the development team is not yet ready to offer any details on the kind of new enemies that they will have to face.

InXile says that it will offer more details on the nature dominated city and its unique challenges in the coming months.

Wasteland 2 is a post-apocalyptic party based role playing game that will allow player to create their characters or choose from a number of presets and then explore a ruined world as a Desert Ranger and deal with a powerful threat that could take out the remnants of humanity.

Wasteland 2 is set to be launched before the end of the year and InXile is currently offering the game in Early Access form and encouraging all players to offer their feedback so that the team can improve the core mechanics.
