Since we're going through some rather tough times, most consumers are pretty reluctant to spending a lot of money on their home entertainment systems. This is why most major names in the industry are trying to come up with certain specific solutions that will help them cope really well with this situation, and that's also the case with projector manufacturer InFocus, which has just introduced the X9 model, a device designed to offer an HD-grade experience even to users on a tight budget.

The projector from InFocus uses DLP technology from Texas Instruments, featuring 0.62-inch, 12 degree Type A DC2 DMD mirrors. It supports a maximum resolution of 1440x900 pixels (720p native resolution), 16x9, 16x10, 16:9, 5:4 and 4:3 aspect ratios, and it also comes packed with a 6-segment color wheel.

The X9 can generate images with a maximum size of 29.95 ft (9.13 m) at distances ranging between 3.28 - 39.37 ft (1 - 12 m), the standard lens providing throw ratios between 1.55 - 1.7 and a zoom ratio of 1.1:1. Furthermore, the device provides a 2500:1 contrast ratio, plus a maximum brightness level of around 1800 lumens, delivered by the 180 W lamp, whose estimated functioning life is of around 3500 hours.

The connectivity options provided by the X9 are quite extensive, since users can choose from HDMI 1.3, component, composite, S-video or VGA to connect anything from a PC to a PlayStation.

"The InFocus X9 is the perfect choice for the buyer looking for a value-priced alternative to our award-winning IN80 series," commented Benjamin Joy, director, Product Marketing for InFocus, referring to the company's latest product. "Now anyone can enjoy watching sports or entertainment in a stunning 100-inch image."

While it certainly isn't the most affordable projector out there, the InFocus X9 is pretty fairly priced, given its features and specs, and it will be available from now on through the company's various retail channels at prices of around 1,100 US dollars.
