The development team at Sucker Punch might have only announced the existence of InFamous First Light during E3 2014, but the company says that it has already made a lot of progress with the title and is ready to deliver more information about the Battle Arenas that will be included in the standalone expansion.

The announcement on the PS Blog states, “First Light features the origin story of my favorite conduit from Second Son, Abigail ‘Fetch’ Walker. It’s always a challenge to create an origin story, but we found Fetch to be a really engaging character and wanted to explore her past a little more. After being captured by the D.U.P, Fetch is taken to Curdun Cay, a conduit prison up in the snowy mountains, where D.U.P leader Augustine sets out to train her to become a ruthless killer.”

The new character allows the studio to create a number of new mechanics while keeping the core features of the initial release, and one of the biggest additions are replayable Battle Arenas, which will offer worldwide leader board support.

In Curdun City these areas are used to train capable killers and Fetch will have to use her entire arsenal of powers in order to take on wave after wave of powerful enemies.

Sucker Punch states, “As you play through the game, you can then go back and choose to re-play the challenges to compete with scores on worldwide leaderboards. This is a level of interaction with your friends that we haven’t explored before and it’s SUPER exciting. As an added bonus, if you still have your copy of Second Son, you will be able to play as Delsin in these Battle Arenas.”

Two new characters for InFamous First Light have also been revealed, Brent and Shane.

Fetch herself will be able to use neon powers that are specially designed for her, with a fast melee attack and a new Dash that asks the player to navigate through neon gas clouds in order to reach top speed.

The studio also says that gamers will be able to use a new neon power bomb and that one of the new environments is set in a snowstorm and will play a key role in the narrative of InFamous First Light.

The new standalone expansion will be launched on August 26 via the PlayStation Store, and those who place a pre-order will be able to get a new DUP costume for the main character.
