YouTube is working on the next generation site, inspired by Google's company wide redesign efforts, but that is still in the testing phase. In the meantime though, it's updating other parts of the site, after all, it's one of the biggest and most complex out there, there's plenty to do.

Something you may have already spotted is the new 'end screen' for videos, the thing that is displayed once a video has stopped playing.

It's gotten an update and now lists a number of related videos tiled together to fit better in the space and also look cleaner. There are also buttons to replay the video, like it or dislike it and share it with friends.

The Playlist Bar has been improved as well. Each video in the playlist is now better separated and there are mode details for it. This makes it easier to keep track of what's next. What's more, the control buttons have been made more prominent as well.

"If you want to keep track of the latest and greatest videos on YouTube or know which videos have had true staying power, check out our updated YouTube Charts page," Nathalie Arbel, product marketing manager at YouTube, described another update.

"You can browse through the most viewed (standard and HD), most liked, and top favorited videos of today, this week, this month and of all time," she said.

YouTube also added another tool to its video editing section, WeVideo a cloud-based platform. There are now eight video editing and creation tools in YouTube's 'Create' list.

Finally, a localized version of YouTube is now available in more places, it launched in Kenya, the Philippines and Singapore in recent weeks. A local version of the site is now available in 35 countries. YouTube is also available in more languages, 51 now in total.
