Increased forest patrol aims at safeguarding these amphibians

During the monsoon season, a lot of India's frogs end up being killed by poachers, in spite of their being an endangered species and therefore under the law’s protection.

However, environmentalists and conservationists will be glad to hear that forest department officials in this part of the world recently decided to make extra efforts so as to make sure that, at least this year, the country's amphibians will be kept well out of harm's way.

Thus, checks will be done regularly and, if necessary, those found guilty of killing, serving or eating these endangered animals will be sent to prison. Apparently, such measures helped rescue around 120 of India's frogs back in 2011.

As well as this, indigenous people were asked not to offer their support to people who come here in order to poach frogs.
