The security of our computers is one of the main concerns for both users and software companies, so every new security application supposed to protect our data is welcomed. Today, a new application, delivered as a browser plug-in able to improve the search experience and provide better protection for us, made its way on the web. CyberDefender's safeSEARCH Toolbar 2.0 Beta is a freeware browser add-on that includes all kinds of security utilities, such as secure search, website recommendations, user ratings, ID alerts, pop-up blocker and website security rating.

"With our newest toolbar, users can quickly and easily distinguish between a dangerous and a trustworthy website, protecting them and their identities before it's too late", said CyberDefender CEO, Gary Guseinov. "The safeSEARCH toolbar provides consumers with a powerful frontline defense when surfing the Internet and coupled with the new five-star rating system and community review feature effectively arms them with the tools, knowledge and support they need to identify, avoid and protect themselves from potential scams and other online threats", Guseinov concluded.

What I've found to be really attractive is the amount of details provided by the toolbar, once the user attempts to visit a suspicious website. SafeSEARCH 2.0 offers all kinds of details, starting with the name of the owner and ending with affiliated websites. Host country, IP details, popularity ratings and contact information, they are all included in the details offered by the newly released browser toolbar.

And now, the sad part of the article: the security toolbar will become available for download on January 30th, 2008, on a separate page hosted by CyberDefender. The toolbar will be compatible with the Windows operating system and with the Internet Explorer browser, being delivered as a 1MB package available for free, for all the users out there.
