It would appear that people in the United States have become big fans of 100% electric vehicles. Thus, recent reports say that, in the year 2013, they acquired 228.88% more such cars than they did the year before.

All in all, sales of all-electric vehicles in the year 2013 amounted to 46,148, Clean Technica reports. By comparison, sales of plug-in hybrid electric vehicles upped by about 26.87% when compared to 2012, and reached 48,951.

Otherwise put, annual sales of 100% electric cars were almost a match for annual sales of plug-in hybrids.

Interestingly enough, electric vehicles appear to have also gained popularity in Norway.

More precisely, Clean Technica says that, whereas just 3,950 passenger EV registrations were reported in this country back in 2012, their number increased to 7,882 by the end of 2013.

This represents an increase of 100%, and can only come as good news as far as improving on the ecological footprint of the world's transportation sector is concerned.
