A new version of Google+ for handsets running under Android is now available for download via the Android Market, with a nice range of new features and options included into the mix, in addition to the already detailed Hangouts on mobile, or the new Messenger (previously known as Huddle).

In the new flavor of the application, Google included a number of three enhancements based on user feedback, namely better SMS support, Improved +mentions support, and the possibility to +1’ing comments.

The aforementioned SMS support is available for users in the US and India, who can post to Google+, receive notifications, and even respond to group messages via SMS.

With the new application release, users can easily add people in circles or conversations through +[their name] inside a post or comment.

Moreover, users will also be able to +1 any comment in the Stream straight from their Android handset in the near future (iOS users can already do so).

However, these are only some of the features and enhancements that Google+ came with following the new update. Other options are also there, enabling users to easily personalize their experience.

Some of the new options included with the new update would be: - Edit your profile photo. You can now put your best face forward, from where you happen to be. Just visit your profile, click edit, and you can choose or take a new picture.

- Customize your notifications. Some notifications may be more important than others, especially when you’re on the go. Now you can decide which ones you see (or not) on your phone.

- Make some room. If you’re taking lots of photos, or installing lots of apps, then internal storage can sometimes shrink. That’s why you can now move the Google+ app to SD storage on Android devices.

These are only some of the improvements that Google+ for mobile is set to receive. The new application is available for download today from the Android Market here.
