City building sim goes to the next level

Good news for strategy and city building sim fans! Imperium Romanum, one of the most appreciated titles of its kind, will receive a sequel in March 2009, exclusively for the PC systems. With improved visuals and game mechanics, this new title from Kalypso will offer everybody a chance to write a bit of Roman history from the ground up and develop some of the greatest cities ever.

In Imperium Romanum II, you will take the role of a young Roman patrician, a nobleman who just started his political career, but one with a big objective: to become the Governor of Rome. His goal will be your goal, but don't get fooled by the eye-candy look of the surrounding areas: it will be a pretty tough job and you will have to invest a lot of work to make it happen! But it will be such a pleasant experience (at least that's what the developers let us believe) that you will not feel the time passing by.

"Imperium Romanum was the first top ten title of Kalypso and we are very proud to have entered a long-term agreement with Haemimont Games. The studio is one of the most professional developers in Europe and we are sure to further the brand by releasing the sequel next year." says Simon Hellwig, managing director of Kalypso. ?Imperium Romanum II will be the first of many top ten hits for us in 2009," he adds.

As you can see in the screenshot in the upper left corner, the graphics of the game have been completely revamped and new buildings and environments have been implemented. Also, the economic and battle systems have been improved to offer an even more lifelike feeling, while a multiplayer mode will make sure you'll spent the best time together with your friends. But you will see all these changes (and many other new features) in action when the game launches next March.
