One of the suspects on the 10 Most Wanted list in San Diego has been captured after a standoff in Florida.

Ramiro Espinoza was caught up in Imperial Beach on early Friday, July 26. He surrendered to police following a six-hour standoff.

The sheriff's office said in a press release relayed by the Imperial Beach Patch that he was cornered at 357 Elkwood Ave.

“He will be transported to [San Diego Central Jail] for processing. No further details are available at this time,” the statement reads.

He was detained at 1:17 a.m. “without incident,” a law enforcement source has stated. 34-year-old Espinoza was being sought for outstanding warrants on attempted murder and domestic violence charges.

“Ramiro Espinoza has a history of narcotics and domestic violence and has recently been involved in series of violent domestic crimes in multiple areas of the county including the Spring Valley area.

“He frequents the South Bay Area of San Diego County. He has a tattoo with ‘San Diego’ on his stomach and tattoo picture of Jesus with thorn crown on his back. He should be considered armed and dangerous,” he is described on the San Diego Sheriff’s office website.

Police say that the fugitive had been residing in the area for an unknown period.

“So they came down here and they started to call him out of the residence they believed he was in and at that point someone went over the back fence.

“We believe it was Espinoza and the chase, as it was, was on,” sheriff's spokeswoman Jan Caldwell described the standoff starting off.

Three or four shots have been fired during the chase, and an investigation is set to reveal who opened fire.

“I'm not at liberty to say who fired the shots. It was not law enforcement,” Caldwell adds.
